Portuguese is spoken by more than one hundred and seventy million people on four continents: Europe, Africa, Asia, and America. Twenty percent of all residents of the Western Hemisphere are Brazilians, who attest to the truth that one out of every five Americans - North, Central, South - speaks Portuguese as his or her native language.

With a practical knowledge of Spanish or Portuguese (or both), you make yourself valuable in a whole spectrum of commercial, diplomatic, or academic career options. Spanish is the third most widely spoken language in the world, and Portuguese is spoken by more than 100 million people on four continents.
Independent studies are not a regular offering. These are courses set up by special arrangement between a professor and a student who wishes to further pursue an in depth study on an area beyond those covered on our courses but still related to our program.
