Día de los muertos 2016

Día de los Muertos or The Day of the Dead celebrations are based on the belief that the souls of lost loved ones can come back to this world on November 1st and 2nd.


Spanish Conversation Groups

Spanish Conversation Groups are taking place NOW at Northrop Frye, Room 008 from 3-5pm and continue until Nov 29th! It's a great chance to grow in speaking Spanish, no matter what level you are at! Come and practice to get that 100% on your oral exam!

Nous avons le plaisir d’annoncer les gagnants du prix de la meilleure présentation étudiante à la rencontre annuelle de l’ACL tenue à Calgary du 28 au 30 mai 2016.


Emeritus Professor Wendy Rolph

Emeritus Professor Wendy Rolph died on April 6, 2016. Professor Rolph pursued all her studies at the University of Toronto and was appointed lecturer in the then Department of Italian and Hispanic Studies in 1967. She was instrumental in planning courses in film studies in the Department and then in helping to establish the Cinema Studies program at Innis College. She became Director of this Program in 1984 and took a brief break to act as Principal of the College in 1991. She again directed 1991-92.


Exciting News for Our Portuguese Program

Two new faculty members will join the program in July 2016: Profs. Annabela Rato and Suzi Lima. They will be introducing new courses to our undergraduate program in Portuguese, such as a course on the varieties of Portuguese spoken around the world and another course on the indigenous languages of Brazil. You will be hearing more about these and other new courses during the summer.

Intonation Workshop - February 16, 2018

Intonation workshop: February 16 (9AM-5PM, location TBA).

The goal of this workshop is to broadcast the research on intonation at UofT and to establish a dialogue with experts around the world. There will be short presentations by faculty members, alumni and graduate students and three invited speakers, who have yet to be announced.
