Biography
Born in Caracas and raised in various parts of Venezuela, Johann and his family moved to Canada when he was eleven. His focus on the Venezuelan diaspora comes from both a personal connection and an academic curiosity that was born during the latter part of his B.A. Honours degree. He has received multiple awards to support his research and academic analysis of the cultural productions of Venezuelan diasporas, mentioned below. In addition, his creative exploration of the same research topic can be appreciated in the award-nominated radio documentary Venezuelan Diaspora Experiences Abroad (CJSR 2019).
