Berenice Villagómez, former doctoral student from our Department, and Professor Néstor Rodríguez announced the publication of El hermano definidor by Pedro Henríquez Ureña. The volume is a collection of essays on Mexican cultural history organized by the Dominican scholar. Villágomez and Rodríguez unearthed the manuscript while examining Henríquez Ureña’s personal papers at El Colegio de México as part of a SSHRC-funded project.

The Department is awarded a Curriculum Development Fund for a project entitled "Language variation and its cultural representations across the Spanish curriculum". The application was led by Professor Laura Colantoni and carried out by Professors Susan Antebi, Josiah Blackmore, Cristina Cuervo, Iván Fernández, Yolanda Iglesias, Manuel Ramírez, Ana Pérez-Leroux and Rosa Sarabia.
